It's getting started!
Hey guys!

It's only 10 days to go until I leave Germany. And since I probably will be very busy until then I am going to write this down today. I will be busy moving out of my apartment and getting the visa before I leave August 23rd, next Tuesday.

Basically I never wanted to have a plan and be just as free as a bird about where to go and what to do. Well, apparently that's not how it's working and I was too naive to realize that before. It starts with national bureaucracy obstacles, and ends with Visa problems. Everybody wants to know where you go, when you go and where you are going to.

That's why I had to set up a little plan. I am separating my trip into two parts. That goes a little bit like this: September - Christmas | Christmas - End.
I am going to spend Christmas with my uncle Dominik in Thailand and want to visit all the countries which have difficult VISA regulations before that time. Right now I have a Russian Visa, will pick up my Chinese and Mongolian Visa during this week. I guess I will have to get the Indian visa once I arrive in Beijing, as well as the zone permit for Tibet.

I decided that I won't be a way for longer then a year in order to receive unemployment benefit when I come back to Germany with my pockets all empty.

I also want to express my gratitude towards all those two believed in me, supported me, and didn't question my dream. My family, my godparents, my friends and my girlfriend who will have to live without me during this time. Oh, also to all the far friends, couchsurfing friends and strangers that supported me, THANKS!

I attached a map with the rough plan from September 6th until Christmas. Every color is one trip, at the end of every color I will stay several weeks or days. There is only one flight, from Kolkata to Bangkok. Probably I will spend less time in India, and more time in China and Nepal. I don't know if I should be going from Beijing to Lhasa in one trip or spend a few days somewhere on the way. Well, I will have to decide that on place! :) Also, do you think I am missing some place? Any advise where to go to? (by the way, I will be in China twice, going to visit the coast early next year)

The stops are probably like that:
Moscow - Irkutsk - Ulaanbataar - Beijing - Lhasa - Kathmandu - New Dheli - Darjeeling - Kholna - Kolkata - Bangkok

Yours Luke

Ps. I will attach a few pictures of what things I am taking end of the week

Ok, a bit oversized here ... but trekkies love this opener ;))
We travelled a lot in our life, but never did something comparable - how is it when closing the last door? We keep you in mind wherever you are and wish you a lot of new experience, friends, nice days ... and good pictures !

Awesome, dude!
Although I'm travelling by myself right now, I'm jealous. It's going to be a long time you're on the move.
Well, I wish you a great time!

Wish you a nice trip!
